An introduction to freemotion embroidery with Caroline Michelle:
Learn the art of freemotion embroidery in this class aimed at beginners. Enjoy the freedom of
drawing with your machine to create your own artwork. This in-depth beginner’s class covers
everything you need to know to learn this technique, from setting up your machine and what
equipment you will need, to top tips and handy advice to get the most out of this wonderfully
creative technique.
This workshop is taught by Caroline Michelle who is a local textile artist
specialising in freemotion embroidery. Throughout the day you will be taught the skills and
techniques required, by producing several small samples, growing in confidence as you become
more skilled at the technique. Ending the day by producing a lovely piece of freemotion artwork
using the raw edge applique technique. Please bring along your sewing machine as well as a
freemotion embroidery foot.
Sewing Machine, please bring your extra wide table for your machine if you have one
(helpful but not essential), also don’t forget your foot pedal and cable.
Freemotion embroidery foot
Plain white felt or similar stable fabric for the various practice samples
A small variety of fabric scraps to produce the raw edge applique artwork
Black thread
Your usual sewing equipment, scissors etc
Bondaweb
& don’t forget your glasses if you wear them& please bring a mug for your hot drink.
This is a small class of no more than 8 people so you will get lots of individual attention.

The class runs from 10 – 4 so you can arrive from 9.45am.

Lunch – you can either bring a packed lunch or we can order a takeaway or book a table for you at the Olive Grove when you arrive.
Parking – there is free parking on site. Please use the small car park behind our main shop if possible, otherwise the overflow car park accessed to the left through the main car park.

Booking a workshop
As our classes are popular and fill up quickly, we operate a ‘first come, first served’ policy with a small reserve list in case of cancellations. Bookings can be made by telephone or by calling into the shop. Full payment for classes and kits must be made at the time of booking, so if you book by phone, please have details of your credit or debit card ready. If you join one of our Block of the Month groups, we request that all classes are paid for whether you attend or not, as we still have the tutors & rent to pay. We also accept cheques by post. Cancelling a workshop
If you need to cancel a workshop, please contact us as soon as possible. It is possible that we may be able to fill your place from the reserve list. Course fees are only refundable if your place can be resold, & a £5 administration fee will be charged.
