Whizz Bang! A Book by Rachaeldaisy

£34.00

Everything has changed for Rachaeldaisy since she won Sydney’s ‘Best in Show’ award with her ‘Whizz Bang’ Quilt! This original quilt is made of blocks made in the style of the “Pine Cones” balls popular in the 90s.

She has totally revisited the look and the sparkling colour palettes give a crazy charm to these completely new kind of quilts.

Rachaeldaisy’s creativity knows no bounds! She creates unique, colourful pieces by folding her squares in the manner of prairie stitch, and uses a wide variety of materials such as silk, taffeta, silk organza, recycled shirts, handkerchiefs or even flax. She sometimes adds woollens, applied lace doilies, yo-yos, buttons…

The result is extraordinary: very trendy quilts, with a Bohemian spirit, very colourful and graphic.
Quiltmania is delighted to publish its first book: a complete guide to its creative adventures, filled with tips and illustrated step-by-steps to make 15 original quilts that will turn many heads!

“I love making these blocks!! In addition to the fabulous and intoxicating results, the process provides real pleasure. I encourage you to be bold and have fun experimenting with this block to create variations. – Rachaeldaisy

Who is Rachaeldaisy?

Rachaeldaisy grew up in a family of artists and therefore immersed herself in the world of fabrics and colour at a very young age. His parents knew how to create a warm home, filled with bright colours: the walls were covered with abstract paintings, Sri Lankan batiks, Japanese paper. Tablecloths and cabinetry featured contemporary style ceramics. Art books piled on the side tables and the windows sported Marimekko curtains in large prints.

Her grandmother passed on to her the love of cooking, gardening and sewing: her three favourite activities!

As a teenager, she spent a lot of time hunting in thrift stores to create her own style, learning a lot about different fabrics while exploring seams, linings and hems. At 20, she finds her way in the world of flowers and will be a florist for many years.

Rachaeldaisy discovered the world of Quilts and Patchwork in the early 2000s during her visit to the Sydney Quilt Show: it was love at first sight!
His style is in line with his creative experiences. She also draws a lot of inspiration from her experience with flowers to create her quilts.
