It needles wonderfully, maintains loft and has exceptional resilience.

Hobbs Heirloom® Premium 100% Wool Batting is a lightweight, breathable batting that breathes naturally and is comfortable for use in all climates.

It is made of the finest superwashed wool in the world – this superwashing process successfully smooths the scales on the wool fibers, making it pleasant to the touch and less likely to shrink.

This product, while lightweight, is also strong and resists bearding and migration.

We suggest washing items made with Hobbs Heirloom Wool Batting by hand, in cool water, and laying them out flat to dry. If you prefer machine washing, items made with this batting may be machine-washed – you should use a gentle cycle and cold/cool water and ensure there’s no heavy agitation or spin during the wash cycle..

This batting may be stitched up to 4″ apart, and it is machine washable (once inside a quilt), with shrinkage of 3-5% expected.

We recommend quilters spend time making samples using this batting to see how it needles, both by hand and by machine, and how it launders, provides an opportunity to see if this batting can deliver the desired results.

Pre-washing is not recommended.
