Snuggle up and stitch

We are not sure about you but this week has seen us battered by winds and rain so we have been hunkering down and keeping busy with lots of sewing and kit making. The Advent Calendars and the Christmas workshop samples are being prepared and we are really excited about having more regular groups and workshops in the near future. We are still waiting for the keys to our new workshop space but it is any day now!

We have some new patterns and restock from Gail Pan including some festive ones that will be quick to make in time for the seasons celebrations. There are also some beautiful projects to make as gifts.

Some of the kits that have kept us busy have been for the Hatched and Patched patterns that came in last week. Both festive and everyday to choose from.

As always, we wish you a very lovely week and are looking forward to helping you with all your sewing needs.
Best wishes

Gail Pan Patterns

A little parcel of loveliness arrived from Gail Pan this week. It included several new patterns that were very popular when Gail spent time with us in August.

In the first photo we can see Preston Park Quilt for which we have made a fabric pack using lots of Edyta Sitar fabrics, Happiness sewing pocket, originally made with Tilda Windy Days fabrics. Poppy's Sewing Set pattern can be used to make a pincushion, a needle case, a sewing bag and a scissors keeper, all adorned with hearts and vines. The octagonal Summertime Birds Tablerunner is very typical of Gail Pan with the beautiful redwork birds.

In the second picture are some of Gail Pan's smaller festive patterns. Christmas Banners, Christmas Delights wallhanging and mini pillows with seasonal redwork, Joy Bunting and A Scrapbook Christmas Collage.

We are blessed to be looking after some of Gail's own original bags, quilts and stitcheries that customers visiting have been inspired by. Pop into see her handiwork.

Hatched & Patched

We have some beautiful large and small makes from Anni Downs at Hatched and Patched. Plenty to keep you busy until the new Happyland BOM patterns arrive. For those who have ordered A Day in Happyland, we promise they will be with us and you soon.
The first picture show cases The Giving Tree Skirt, The Partridge and the Tree, a fun wallhanging depicting the 12 Days of Christmas. Peace and Joy Wallhanging, resplendent with a cheery angel and the Tree of Christmas Cheer that can be used as a decoration or doorstop.
Below we see Merry Christmas Wallhanging, All for Christmas Advent Calendar and Deck the Halls Quilt. All delightful in different ways.

Hatched & Patched Books

Books are such a cost effective way of getting multiple patterns in one go. Anni Downs books are no exception. Each contains a minimum of 9 projects including purses, toys, bags, cushions and quilts.

Fabric choices make a difference

Not sure if a pattern is your cup of tea because you are not drawn to the colours of the original? Below are three examples to show how varied a result you can get with a different fabric choice in a project.
The Alice Bag by Gail Pan We have had both the pattern and the bag sample with us since Gail's visit but didn't realise they were the same pattern until last week! We also show Siobhan's version of the Garden Gathering Bag alongside the original pattern. Life's A Journey from House on the Hill was originally designed using Country earthy colours but we have reimagined it in vibrant Tilda fabrics. More examples of customers work can be found in our Customer Gallery.
