Stuffed Toys, Dolls and Needle Felt Makes
This week we look at smaller makes rather than larger quilts and projects. The shop is filled with patterns, books, kits, fabrics and equipment useful for soft toy making. They are not just for children, in fact many of the projects below are not suitable for very young children but are perfect for the child like spirit in all of us. Gorgeous Tilda Kitschy Dolls, Lovely Luna Lapin with her intricate clothes and needle felted cats and dogs.
|
We do have projects that are suitable for children including some that they might want to make themselves with a little help. Many of the felt projects are particularly appropriate for children to make as felt is so forgiving to work with and can be stitched by hand. Even needle felting projects can be made by children as long as they are supervised as, believe me, those needles hurt if you catch your finger- ask me how I know! Haha!
|
With many of the projects, the staff have made the samples for the shop or at home and are happy to offer advise for any you are unsure of, or give handy tips and hints to make life easier for you. Call, drop in or email if you need help with any of the projects we stock. We can suggest ideas for all skill levels and abilities.

Luna and her collection of felt friends have always been very popular. We have all four of Sarah Peels books filled with gorgeous patterns for all the animals, including Luna rabbit, Wilhelmina Mouse, Clementine Cat, Hugh The Salty Sea Dog, Reynard Fox and others, plus the teeny weeny beautiful clothes that are proper dressmaking on a miniature scale. We have several of the characters made and dressed in the shop so pop in and say hello!

These cute animals are made using the needle felting technique. Soft natural wool fibres are shaped using a special needle that has slight barbs to hook the fibres together, The only sewing needed is for the addition of eyes.
