Happy Easter
Firstly let us all wish you a very lovely weekend filled with love, family, friends and possibly chocolate! We really hope you get to enjoy all or some of these things over this bank holiday weekend. A gentle reminder that we are open today, Saturday 8th April, but will be closed, as usual on Sunday, and also on Monday 10th April. We will be checking orders to get them ready for you but the shop will be closed so we all get a little rest. There will obviously be a few delays in getting parcels shipped due to the Bank Holiday but they will be with you as soon as possible. If you are visiting us we will be open bright and breezy again on Tuesday ready for you to fabric fumble!
Looking ahead we have only a month to go until the Coronation of King Charles III. We have some handy Union Jack Bunting panels to make some quick bunting along with a variety of red, white and Blue fabrics and bunting tapes. Plus Mary has been busy again designing a wonderful Coronation Cushion. We also have some of her Union Jack Cushion kits available using Tilda fabrics.
Whatever you may be doing this weekend, we hope that you have a wonderful time,
and that it is full of love, laughter and sewing & a little bit of chocolate! Best wishes Sally & the girls

This panel makes up quick Union Jack flags, perfect for bunting for the King's Coronation.
You can either have double sided flags or back them with our red, white and blue fabrics below. To back the panel in one fabric you will need fabric 60cm x width of fabric. Three long 1/4s is more than enough if buying online.
The easiest way to make this bunting is to lay the bunting panel on the backing fabric, right sides together, pin and stitch along the two long sides of each pennant. Then simply cut between the flags, turn right side out, press and pop into some bunting tape that has been folded over the open top of the flags. Stitch along the tape, make a loop at the end and hang.
Of course you may wish to make all the backs different in which case the flags can be cut out before stitching to the backing. Or sewn in smaller bulk batches ie cut the panel into 3 or 4 sections and lay on the backing fabric.

Either to back the bunting panels or to make your own celebration bunting, you will need red, white and blue fabrics.
We have reds in all shades and patterns, from deep burgundy and cherry reds, to more vibrant post box reds.
The whites are tricky to show online but we have a wide variety of white on white tonal prints as well as more colourful prints on a white base.
Blues range from the palest baby blue to the darkest navy, in both solid plains and richly patterned.

To make your Coronation or other bunting you will need bunting tape.
We stock bunting tape in all colours of the rainbow! It's a cotton twill which is much better than using bias binding which stretches.
The bunting tape is available by the metre & is available in 30mm, but also available in 20mm, 14mm & 11mm widths in white & cream, so simply fold it in half, insert your flags and stitch!!! It makes great bag handles too.

"Snowdrop Belle was originally created for Liberty as an Art Nouveau furnishing fabric, printed in 1896 – a small floral drawn in a typical stylised trail, featuring monochrome snowdrops on a spot background.
Designed specifically for quilting, our soft Lasenby cotton base is suitable for a range of creative projects, including bedspreads, cushions and cosies. It is machine washable and durable enough for daily use, with each richly coloured design created using traditional screen-printing techniques." Liberty London
