A very exciting week for us in the shop

Just in this week are all the details for the new Block Of the Month from Natalie Bird, Owl and Hare Hollow. The BOM pattern is only available in Homespun Magazine and the first part of the pattern will be with us in issue 212 arriving in March/April. We have a limited run of these magazines so see details below of how to purchase from us. Natalie Bird's previous Homespun BOM, A Letter to my Daughter, became as scarce as gold dust worldwide at one point.

On our cutting tables are two lovely new fabric ranges, Botanicals by Lynette Anderson and Pie in the Sky from Tilda. Very different but equally beautiful. We are not allowed to sell the Tilda until the launch day Wednesday 1st February but you can join the waitlist on any of the items & we'll add Pie in the Sky on 1st Feb.

We are very excited to have confirmed with Gail Pan that she will be visiting us on August 8th and 9th. We are in the process of finalising the details but please contact us to register your interest and we will let you know all the information once we have it. It is likely to be a day in the Olive Grove Bistro chatting with Gail, stitching and eating lunch followed by a smaller group on the second day in our workshop, which we hope will be up and running by Easter. So we will soon be announcing the return of our regular groups and workshops. Too much excitement for January!

Happy Stitching and have a wonderful week.
Best wishes

Owl and Hare Hollow Block of the Month

The exciting 2023 Block of the Month ‘Owl & Hare Hollow’ has been created by the talented Australian designer Natalie Bird of the Birdhouse Patchwork Designs. Featuring gorgeous stitchery designs and plenty of English Paper Piecing and Applique, the Owl & Hare Hollow project has been inspired by Natalie’s love for the countryside with its winding country lanes, tea and scones in the garden watching the flowers sway in the breeze, the bees dancing above, and a house on the hill watching over it all.

The quilt features the new fabric range Owl & Hare Hollow by Natalie Bird, plus a newly designed stitchery panel and accompanied by the popular Blume & Grow fabrics.

The ‘Owl & Hare Hollow’ BOM will launch in Homespun Magazine issue 212, due with us in March/April and will run over 6 issues.
Please note that you will need all 6 bi-monthly Homespun magazines released during 2023 to access the pattern and instructions to complete the project.
You can pre-pay & pre-order all 6 issues here or contact us to set up a subscription & pay per issue to guarantee getting each issue.

Finished Size of Quilt: Approximately 64″ x 77″

We have a limited supply of the original fabric kit which comes in a canvas bag and contains all fabric required to complete the quilt top including binding, 3.5m extra wide backing, piecing and applique fabrics, and also includes the stitchery panel.
We also have a DMC thread pack , English Paper Piecing Set, Acrylic Templates for the English Paper Pieces, to accompany the BOM and if you prefer to use your own fabrics you can buy the pre printed stitchery panel on its own. We are waiting for the panels to arrive Feb/March so if you would like one, please add your name to the product waitlist and we will notify you as soon as they are in stock. All the stitchery designs will be in the magazine but the panels are a great way to get stitching immediately without having to trace everything.

You will also need 2m of 90" wide wadding. For those of you who don't purchase the full kit, we are re-stocking Blume & Grow Feb/March including the border fabric & extra wide backing used in Owl & Hare Hollow, so add your name to the Waitlist to be notified when those arrive.

Botanicals by Lynette Anderson

Bringing the outdoors inside this pretty floral collection from Lynette combines bold floral prints with tiny itty bitty prints in soft shades of vintage pinks, hazy blues, dirty greens, dusky mauves and ochres.
Lynette says of the collection “When I am enjoying the outdoors I love listening to the beautiful birdsong and hoping to spy the bird that's singing. Glorious flowers whether wild or in a garden along with the buzzing of bees and the flutter of butterflies makes me feel relaxed and at one with nature”.
Available as fat 1/4s or on the bolt in increments of Long Quarters or 25cm.

We think this fresh spring like range would look so pretty made up into the Little Dresden Quilt, Scissors, Spools and Thread Quilt or the Tree of Life BOM.
Or maybe you have another Lynette Anderson pattern you think would look good in these fabrics. Let us know your ideas. We like to be inspired by others.

Pie in the Sky by Tilda

To introduce and explain the new Tilda range we share below the words of its designer, Tone Finnanger. This bright and spring like collection is on sale from launch day Wednesday 1st February so you can add your email to the waitlist on any of the products & these gorgeous fabrics will go on sale on Wednesday 1st February.

Growing up, I always heard I was an incorrigible daydreamer, never in the moment, my head constantly in the clouds. My mind would wander from the classroom into a world of shapes and colours, completely forgetting where I was. Constantly drawing and building things, often several hours going by, without me being aware of it.
This collection is a sweet and colourful nod to children like me who struggle with dyslexia and cope by creating alternative, creative worlds full of ideas – hence the collection name, Pie in the Sky. By being patient and continuing to create, you will eventually find your place in the world.
The Pie in the Sky collection is a fresh array of fabrics for spring and summer, with doodle-like flowers giving the designs a naive and effortless feel. The sweet motives and colours have a vintage look that was the point of departure for several quilt designs. Fun fabric names like WillyNilly, Whimsybird, TopsyTurvy and Cloudpie invite you to indulge in a happy, creative sewing escape.
