Love is all around
At Coast and Country Crafts and Quilts we don't need an excuse to celebrate love but we thought we would share with you some of our favourite love themed projects and fabrics as we near St Valentines Day. There's still time to buy or make a gift for someone close to your heart, whether they are a lover, partner, family member or friend. Or, look at a bigger project to spend some time working on something you love. Let's face it everyone reading this newsletter has it because we love sewing and making! We especially like slow stitching to give ourselves some valuable down time and self love after the hectic times of December and New Year.
|
Pie in the Sky from Tilda was launched on Wednesday 1st February and has been flying out the door. Tilda have issued some free patterns to accompany the range so please let us know if you would like any kits making for them before the fabric disappears.
|
Owl and Hare Hollow kits have also been disappearing fast. At the time of writing there are just 7 kits left from a total of 30. We will not be able to replicate these kits in their entirety once these kits are gone but as always we will always match as closely as possible to the original.

Happy Stitching and have a wonderful week. Best wishes Sally & the girls

Sally has been busy making this lovely heart cushion using the Strawberries and Cream fabric range from Edyta Sitar. We have cut a pack of 32 fat 1/16ths which will give you all the fabrics you need for the centre of the cushion. Sally followed the Pie Crust Cushion pattern on page 23 of Jo Colwill's book Cushions and Quilts. We just love it so much.
|
Sally used her Cut n Press II mat so she could pin the pieces to it when moving around with the project, ie hand sewing in front of the TV. Her border and backing fabric is 1/2m of soft natural linen and the running stitch was done in DMC thread 498, a beautiful pinky red. To give good definition to the applique hearts, Sally used applique paper but you can also use freezer paper.

The hearts were stitched on a cream background & Michelle used our soft Sligo in Sand colour for the cushion back.

Michelle has added embroidery using DMC 221 & a lovely selection of wooden & shell heart buttons

This wallhanging was made with vibrant batik fabrics and was a fun way to use scraps and stash. Originally run as a workshop this design is now available as a pattern. It uses the stich, flip, press and cut method of piecing and is addictive.

We love our selection of heart buttons in both wood and plastic. They help to finish off a project so nicely. Why not use a set to make Love and Heart bunting or a mini wall hanging. If using the wooden buttons simply use the packaging designs for display ideas by adding fabric or stitches.

Fresh and vibrant prints and colours are the feature of this collection. Ditsy florals and larger designs combine to give a zing of spring. In the new patterns they are combined with Tilda Solids to really showcase the designs. There are also matching precuts and buttons.
|
Why not look at the free patterns on Tilda's World for inspiration or browse through our selection of Tilda Books. Always amazing value as they have so many patterns in them.
|
Or really show Tilda Love by ordering Tilda Lover's Club. Sent every two months you can order a subscription to guarantee receiving each issue, or you can take your chances and pick and chose when we have remaining stock added online.

The exciting 2023 Block of the Month ‘Owl & Hare Hollow’ has been created by the talented Australian designer Natalie Bird of the Birdhouse Patchwork Designs. Featuring gorgeous stitchery designs and plenty of English Paper Piecing and Applique, the Owl & Hare Hollow project has been inspired by Natalie’s love for the countryside with its winding country lanes, tea and scones in the garden watching the flowers sway in the breeze, the bees dancing above, and a house on the hill watching over it all.
