Feeling cosy and creative
Well, I think most of us have experienced the very cold snap this week. It added a festive atmosphere but was a shock to the system. We hope that you are all keeping warm and you have had the perfect chance to stay hunkered down at home with some sewing. Not that we need any excuses of course!
An ongoing struggle for us and many other small businesses at present, are the postal strikes. We have been doing our very best to keep everyone supplied with their orders but there are huge delays and backlogs that we have no control over. We have now been advised that only 1st Class and Special Delivery parcels are being prioritised at present to get everyone their parcels for Christmas. Even on non-strike days cards are often not being picked up or delivered to cut down on the backlog and workload.
We are trying to upgrade as many parcels as we can to either 1st class, FedEx or Special Delivery. If you need your order by Christmas please opt for our first Class service & put SPECIAL DELIVERY in the comments box if you are willing to pay the difference to upgrade to Special Delivery. We can absorb some of the increased costs but there maybe one or two occasions where this is not possible. Customer service remains our priority & thank you for your understanding & patience 🙏🎄🤗

Three new patterns have been delivered hot off the press from Hatched and Patched. Designed using her Market Garden fabric which is due with us very shortly, but all will equally look good in any fabric.
The little Daisy Doo Pouch by Hatched & Patched is great for a make on a weekend getaway, with a little needle-turn applique, a little stitchery and a little paper piecing.
The Signs of Spring bag pattern is the perfect size at 12″x16″, so big enough to fit A4 documents, water bottle and everything else you’ll need for your day, without it being too large and cumbersome to carry.
Where Wildflowers Grow by Hatched & Patched, is a fat quarter friendly quilt, with 19 fat quarters needed along with a base colour (in this instance natural linen), and binding. It is 54″ in size, so a perfect lap quilt size, although just add some easy borders to make it larger. There are 10 applique blocks to create (with a little bit of stitchery), along with simple piecing to make it a truly relaxing quilt to make.

Elizabeth Hartman makes beautiful, bold and funky quilt designs, that despite looking complicated, are made using conventional patchwork techniques. No templates or paper piecing!
Her patterns frequently feature animals and are flexible, often including options for making different size quilts or taking elements from the main quilt design to make different layouts, or pillows and wall hangings from blocks within the quilt.

This beautiful book by Edyta Sitar has been inspirational for our Mary who loves using the tiniest of pieces in her mini makes. We are all in awe of how Mary takes the smallest scraps and utilises them in such wonderful ways.
From playful to precious this collection of mini quilt patterns is designed to inspire quilters of all ages. An accomplished quilt and fabric designer, Edyta Sitar explores a myriad of tiny creations, pondering and playing with her favourite scraps until a quilt is born. It’s your turn to take inspiration from these tiny treasures and discover the magic of miniature quilts. Pages: 128
Mary used the Sophie mini quilt pattern from the book to make these two beauties. The original is the tiny mini quilt on the left that uses mini charms, and then she upsized everything to use charm squares for the lap quilt on the right. The idea was that a child could have a matching quilt for themselves and their favourite toy.

Check out the blog post to see how she did it.

We have had a few people who have become frustrated and angry at delays with receiving parcels. Please respect that we do our very utmost to get parcels out within 24 hours of being ordered, however many goods are taking at least two weeks to arrive. |
We do not offer a next day delivery service, but if you are in a desperate hurry to receive goods, we will investigate available services. We do look at alternative options for all orders, wherever feasible, including reliable courier services, although even couriers are experiencing delays due to the extra volume of parcels coming their way. Some parcels are arriving within a few days and others are much more delayed. There is no rhyme nor reason as to why there are such differences and is no fault of ours |
