New products New space

Hello, and happy weekend. We can't quite believe that it's February already and although the day isn't so bright today, we still feel the promise of spring and the longer daylight hours ahead. New beginnings are afoot for nature and for us as a shop.

We have been waiting super patiently for the new workshop space opposite the shop to be ready but we still do not have a date so we have made alternative plans. We are reorganising our existing shop space to create room for stock and our online business and therefore freeing up the current workshop in order to host our groups and workshops. We aim to cause as little disruption as possible to trading but are very keen to get classes and regular groups going as soon as possible. We have two workshops up and coming, February 10th Louise Nichols Embellished Floral Pouches, with one last space available and Mary's Journal Cover on Saturday March 9th. We will be contacting all our regular groups very soon to arrange start dates. Not long now!

In order to help make room for the switch around we now have most of our festive fabrics at £12 metre or £3 a fat 1/4. And we still have 10% off our waddings until Midnight 4th February.

We are also excited to be stocking new products from Alice Caroline and Ashmead Designs HexiForm. Alice Caroline has created packs of Liberty Lawn precut 2 1/2" and 5" squares, butterflies and hearts, along with project kits.
Hexiform is an alternative to paper in English Paper Piecing. Being fabric based it is easier to handle while sewing, is left in so it gives the fabric a plump luxurious effect & is also fully washable. There are also Hexiform project kits available too. The perfect accompaniment to our scrap bags and the Alice Caroline Liberty Lawn packs.

Also new in are three bolts of delicious Liberty Tana Lawn. Such light and soft fabric in three very different designs. We have already planned to use some for a swishy summer dress. Of course they work beautifully with the Alice Caroline Liberty Lawn precuts too, perfect for a cushion backing if you've used the pre-cuts on the front. Plus there are two new books, one on better scrap busting, Elevate Your Scrap Sewing Projects, and the other Fast Fold Hexie Quilting which uses a similar method to the Hexiform and is a super quick method for making EPP quilt without the paper!

So much to do but all very very exciting.
Happy sewing and let us know how we can help you with all your sewing needs.
Best wishes

Liberty Tana Lawn

This is a cotton that behaves like silk – ultra-fine, with a fluid hand-feel and intense depth of colour that is truly unmatchable. World renowned Tana Lawn™ fabric is soft yet durable, cooling yet warming, and even machine washable. It is beautiful fabric with a very high thread count making it extremely soft to the touch. It can be used for all types of sewing, dressmaking and quilting.

We also stock other cotton Lawns which are not Liberty designs but are equally soft and silky.

Alice Caroline Liberty Lawn Packs and Kits

Oh. My. Goodness! These are just beautiful! Packs of lush Liberty Tana lawn in precut hexagons, 2 1/2" and 5" squares and the gorgeous Butterflies and Hearts perfect for applique. There are also two kits to make - Three pincushions and a needlecase. The kits contain all you need to make the projects.

HexiForm - An alternative to paper piecing

HexiForm is a fabric based alternative to paper piecing and gives a beautiful finish to projects. Unlike paper or card, Hexiform is not removed – it remains in place to give quality form and finish. Hexiform is fully washable, so there is no problem leaving it in. Available not only in hexagons but also a rounded dresden plate. There are also 5 different project packs to make a purse, a kindle case, cushion, brooches and a pincushion. The pieces are ideal to use with our scrap bags or the Alice Caroline Lawn charm packs.

Scrap Bags

We have lots of scrap bags to tempt you and are adding more each week. This week we have made more Tilda, Lynette Anderson, cotton lawn and William Morris scrap bags. Plus we have made project bags using Zoology mini charms, panel and fat 1/16s. Ideal for bags, cushions, quilts, playmats. We also received more of the Moda wool scrap bags.
On the cutting table are more scrap bags to be packed using Liberty, linens and festive fabrics. Add your name to the waitlist to be notified when they are ready to go!

New Books

None of us at the shop can resist a good inspirational book and these two hit the mark.
The Fast Fold Hexie Quilting book has inspired us to have a go at a quilt as you go hexi project. Fast-folding hexies lets you create a hexagon block with backing and batting included—no basting, no preparing a backing, and no binding. You'll bust your stash and save time by fast-folding your hexies!

Elevate your Scrap Sewing Projects Inside this unique sewing project book, you’ll find inspiration for using your fabric scraps while you learn and practice over 20 out-of-the-ordinary sewing techniques, including creating a flange, bias fabric manipulation, fabric wrapping, adding leather, using fusible applique on vinyl, creating 3D fabric bows, working with cork, rope sewing, and other skills to make each gift-worthy project. You can even pick your project by choosing which techniques you would like to learn. Using both hand sewing and machine sewing techniques to create unique accessories, this is a must-have guide for crafters of every skill level to make something amazing! As you can see from the photos below, these projects also look great using Liberty fabrics!
