| We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Her Majesty The Queen. For over seventy years she has dedicated her life to service for her country and the Commonwealth. We would like to offer our condolences to the Royal Family who have lost their beloved mother, grandmother and aunt. She will be missed by many around the world and we offer our love to all who are grieving for those they have lost. |
Changing Seasons
With the arrival of September we also have the Autumnal weather. The sun has still been shining but there's a tangible nip in the air. Here in Cornwall we have also had several thunder storms bringing the much needed rain. With this change in temperature we are turning our thoughts to harvests, cosy nights snuggled under quilts of rich colours, soft flannels, pumpkins, halloween, acorns and, dare we say, in the not too distant future, Christmas.

Quilts made from cosy brushed cottons and soft flannel fabrics are the perfect snuggle up comfort for this time of year. With rain outside, the light dimming and a little too early to light the fire, what better way to keep toasty then to make yourself or loved ones a quilt. We like to think of flannel quilts as portable hugs when wrapped around shoulders or knees.

Look at these gorgeous Autumn themed wooden hand painted buttons! Wouldn't they look glorious adorning a seasonal hanging or bag?

Sally used the Christmas and Seaside themed buttons to create mini hangings and bunting by simply copying the design on the display pack in embroidery and applique.
|

We also love the Crazy Apples Quilt pattern by Lynette Anderson. Such a fun foundation pieced quilt in various reds to celebrate this delicious and versatile fruit.

We had such lovely entries for our mini charm challenge that it was hard to choose a winner. All had something different to offer in terms of arrangement, quilting and applique. However, we had to choose a winner and we are pleased to announce that the winner of the Everyday Mini Charm challenge is Heather Dilleigh. We loved how she used the mini charms not only for the piecing but for the flowers and the tiny paper pieced hexagons. Heather adapted the Bird in a Basket pattern by Lynette Anderson for her make.

In Heather's own words, "I've made it as a sample really, as I've never done anything like this before and didn't want to use the material from the kit in case I messed up!! So many different aspects, it was a challenge for a beginner." We think she did a fantastic job. We can be so self critical of the things we make but we should be proud of all we achieve.
|

To allow more people to take part we have decided to extend the Christmas Mini Charm Challenge until December 9th to give everyone a little more time to finish their festive make.
