Machine Embroidery Hoop Class with Caroline Michelle

22nd June @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

£55

Freemotion Embroidery Hoop Art

Enjoy creating a gorgeous freemotion embroidery and applique embroidery hoop artwork. This workshop is ideally suited if you have already completed the beginners class or have tried the technique before. This in-depth class covers everything you need to know to move from simple applique designs to more complex layered pictures including image transfer and mirror imaging.
With a wide range of designs to choose from at different skill levels, you will be guided through each step carefully and methodically to successfully transfer your chosen image from paper into a wonderfully textured version in fabric. It’s a great way to use up all those fabric scraps you have been saving at home. You will be taught all the skills needed to make the most out of this fantastic technique and leave the workshop with not only a wonderful finished artwork but also the knowledge and ability to continue with your own designs in the future. This workshop is taught by Caroline Michelle who is a local textile artist specialising in freemotion embroidery.
Images, tracing paper and embroidery hoop is supplied but you will need to bring the following materials and equipment with you:
 Sewing Machine, please bring your extra wide table for your machine if you have one
(helpful but not essential), also don’t forget your foot pedal and cable.
 Freemotion embroidery foot
 A piece of plain pale coloured fabric for the background, this will need to be of a stable
weight fabric like a canvas or woollen fabric rather than thin cotton, alternatively you can
add an iron-on stabiliser backing to the reverse of a thinner fabric or use a layer of thin felt
underneath. No smaller than 10”x10”.
 A variety of fabric scraps to produce the raw edge applique artwork.
 Black thread
 Bondaweb
 Your usual sewing equipment, tweezers, scissors etc
 Pencil, an erasable pen is also helpful but not essential

The class runs from 10 – 4 so you can arrive from 9.45am.
Please bring a mug with you for your hot drinks.
Lunch – you can either bring a packed lunch or we can order a takeaway or book a table for you at the Olive Grove when you arrive.
Parking – there is free parking on site.  Please use the small car park behind our main shop if possible, otherwise the overflow car park accessed to the left through the main car park.
