Start the year with a bargain
Happy New Year to you all. We hope that the first few days of January have been kind to you. In Cornwall at least, we have had more and more rain and high winds but are managing to keep cosy under our quilts and keeping busy with sewing. I know that I have been inspired by Christmas sewing gifts and have become slightly obsessive sewing in every spare moment. It's good to have my sewing mojo back when it disappeared for a while last year, it gets so busy on the run up to Christmas! These things happen to many of us but we always know the desire to create returns at some point. The inspiration can come from seeing a new fabric or pattern or admiring what someone else has made. Luckily for us in the shop we get to see all of these things on a daily basis. We hope that, if you too lose your sewing mojo at any point, these newsletters or a visit to the shop or our website help to inspire you and get you going again.

10% off is a brilliant time to invest in a larger fabric pack for a Block of the Month or quilt. Below we showcase some of them. It is also a good time to make the most of the SALE items that are already reduced. We have end of roll bargains, bulk order reductions and heavily discounted ranges that with the 10% off means some fabrics will be just £9 metre!

Our exciting news is that in the next issue of Homespun Magazine will be a new Block of the Month from the prolific and quirky designs of Anni Downs of Hatched & Patched. Sunshine & Lollipops is already proving to be popular with our current subscribers. More details below about signing up as this pattern will only be available in the Homespun magazine for this year.

Just arrived and cut are four new fabrics from Liberty, London Parks. Bright and breezy Spring fresh florals. A glimmer of the flowers that will soon appear. In fact, on a doggy walk today, I did in fact spy a daffodil blooming & the croci are beginning to appear too. Despite being surrounded by waterlogged paths the flowers are starting to peep out.

New Year Savings

Maybe you'd like to top up your stash or there's a big project that you've had your eye on for a while. Now is a great time for either.

We take great pride in providing fabric packs for many of our patterns and Block of the Months. If you are unsure about putting together all the fabrics needed for a particular project, fabric packs are an easy way of getting all you need. We enjoy going around the shop and gathering all the fabrics for each kit. Some use as many as 30 different fabrics that can be daunting for a customer trying to pick online from photos, whereas we have everything around us to make the best choices using the stock available.

Some of our quilt and Block of the Month patterns are very detailed or contain extras like hand painted wooden buttons so can be more pricey. With the savings this week it is a perfect time to grab a bargain. Maybe use your Christmas or birthday gift voucher that you have been gifted rather than spend it on everyday sewing needs.

A lot of our customers like to piece a backing so that it uses up any left over fabrics from the top but sometimes a quilt calls for a more simple backing and our extra wide fabrics are ideal for this. We have extra wide fabrics ranging from the woven Nordso checks and stripes at 64" wide, to Kaffe Fasset bright and cheerful and 3 delicious Liberty prints all at 108" wide.

Sneak Peak!

This sneak peak of the new Block of the Month from Anni Downs of Hatched & Patched, Sunshine & Lollipops, is being shared in the latest edition of Homespun Magazine. It will start in the next issue which will arrive with us in February/March so it's important to get your Homespun subscription set up with us asap! It is only available in the magazine over the coming 12 months in six issues. The quilt is made using Tilda Jubilee Fabrics which are released in February. We will be making up fabric packs with limited availability. Please contact us if you are interested in subscribing to the magazine or buying a fabric pack. We will be releasing more details once we have an idea of costs and timings but couldn't resist sharing the loveliness!
