Settling into Autumn
Does anyone else feel the need to start slowing down and getting cosy with the cooler darker evenings after the busy-ness of the summer? We certainly are looking to take things easier after a crazy few weeks of more stock arriving and we have some gorgeous slow stitching ideas and warm flannels that are perfect for this time of year.
Starting close to home, we have had the second half of the kits from local textile artist Louise Nichols. She popped in on Wednesday armed with boxes of delights including some gorgeous new Folk Art kits. She was excited about being back at the shop to teach too, with one class in November and two more next year in February and April.
From another British designer, Beth Studley, we had a delivery of the Love From Beth patterns and embroidery kits. Her storage pods are always popular along with the seasonally appropriate Pumpkin Bags.
From further afield was a delivery from Hatched and Patched in Australia. We were disappointed that it wasn't the new Block of the Month that we are eagerly anticipating but it was a delight nonetheless to open a box of patterns and books. Also travelling from Australia is the latest Tilda Lover's Club issue. A delightful iPad case.
The ultimate in Autumn cosiness is the collection of Lakeside Gatherings Flannels from Primitive Gatherings at Moda. So so soft and gorgeous in shades of blue and sand, with plaids, stripes and houndstooth prints. We also had several other flannels and homespun fabrics in more festive red and green.
We are still adding workshops to our calendar including, dare I say, One Day Christmas workshops with Sally & Mary on November 21st, 22nd and 28th. Keep checking the calendar for updates as we add more inspiring days to keep you busy.
We look forward to helping you with all your sewing needs. Have a wonderful week. Best wishes Sally & the girls

Flannels are a firm Autumn and Winter favourite at Coast and Country. They are super soft and snuggly and this new Lakeside Gatherings range comes in shades of blues, beige and cream. We can imagine it being used to make a sumptuous raggy quilt to keep you warm as the nights draw in. A quilt that would have a somewhat nautical feel rather than the multi colours in the original.

Our existing range of flannels has been supplemented with these three vibrant fabrics that give a decidedly festive feel to a corner of the shop. They would look amazing used in the Yuletide Star Quilt.
We also have two new homespun woven ticking fabrics in muted red and green. So delicious & perfect for Christmas & country projects.

Louise is a textile artist who carves lino then prints & embellishes her designs on fabric. Her range of kits include a pre-printed design ready to be embellished with threads, felt and beads. There are some designs like the wreaths and the robin panels that are panels only but the rest are kits that also contain the felts and threads.
We have two new kits, each in three colourways. Folk Flowers in green, blue or pink and Triangular Standing Trees in green, grey and blue.

Beth Studley creates beautiful designs. Quilts, embroideries, bags and even a baby carrier. Her bags and pods make versatile storage containers for a wide variety of uses including in the sewing room. Her Pumpkin bag is perfect to make in time for Halloween for any little ones who trick or treat or to fill with treats to give out. We have Halloween themed fabric that would be perfect for them.
