Tired but inspired!
|
Well what a week we have had at Coast and Country. It was all hands to the deck as we prepared the spaces and kits for the two days of workshops with Gail Pan. What an absolute joy it was to see all of the lovely ladies who came and shared their time with us and Gail. A few photos below of the fun had by all, and more photos are on our blog. If any of the ladies who attended would like to share photos of their projects when finished, we would love to see them & put them on our Blog.

Logistically with the new workshop not quite ready as promised, it was tricky at times but we were thrilled at how well both days went. To see everyone stitching and chatting together was heart warming and we are even more excited to get our new workshop space up and running so we can offer many more workshops and regular group gatherings.

Gail was an absolute delight and gave us all lots of handy hints and tips on stitching and applique, and shared stories about her path to designing and her determination to prove wrong all those who doubted she could do this. She also brought lots of new patterns with her that we now stock and we showcase below. In the shop are many of her samples that she has stitched herself and left with us. It is so inspiring to see patterns come to life.

New this week is Wool wadding, often called batting. Many customers have asked us about supplying this so we listened and are now pleased to stock Heirloom Washable Wool Wadding.

We have also been topping up our scrap bags, with more ready to be made over the next few days. Scrap bags are perfect cost effective way to buy for smaller projects, paper piecing and applique to get a large variety of fabrics without having to buy larger pieces.

Many customers are now using Hobbs Heirloom® Premium 100% Wool Wadding exclusively and all agree that this natural product has a soft and luxurious feel and is beautiful to hand quilt. We decided that we had to have it in stock. It is a lightweight, breathable wadding that breathes naturally and is comfortable for use in all climates. Click on the image for more details.

100% cotton wadding, 80/20 blend of cotton and polyester, fusible wadding and 100% polyester. Plus bag wadding, insulated wadding and double sided fusible foam wadding. None of our waddings have a very high loft and all are lovely to work with.

We also now stock the precut Birdie Bird Wadding. A layer of 100% cotton wadding is attached to a layer of 100% cotton flannel, creating a single product that eliminates the need for any gluing, pinning or basting. Your fabric will grip to the flannel layer, creating your quilt sandwich saving you a staggering amount of time layering your quilt & the need for pins or glue.

We are restocking our scrap bags so keep checking here for updates on what we have available. Newly added are Linen Scrap Bags which contain a mix of plains and patterns.

What a busy few days at the shop. It was buzzing with excited customers who were inspired by the workshops lead by Australian designer Gail Pan. Gail was very generous with her time and teaching and everyone left inspired with new ideas and techniques, not to mention arms full of new patterns & kits to stitch.

She brought with her a large array of her designs and we have increased our stock of patterns and are proud to display Gail's handmade bags, hangings and quilts for all our customers to see. There are more photos on our blog pages. We hope to have Gail back again in the future and she is keen to visit us too.

We have been busy making up fabric packs for the new patterns and will add more as soon as we can. If there is a pattern you would like a kit for then please let us know and we will do our very best to make one for you. As always, if a particular item is out of stock then add your name to the waitlist and we will notify you when it is back in stock.
