Celebrating Gail Pan
In August we are lucky enough to have Australian designer Gail Pan coming to spend two days teaching with us. All the places sold out extremely quickly but for those unable to attend the workshops we thought we would showcase some of Gail's designs.
We admire the success that Gail has achieved as a female designer balancing family life with growing a business. Her patterns and fabrics are used all over the world. Her style includes needle turn applique in her quilt designs and simple stitching in her quirky and fun embroidery designs. She is known for her love of birds, bees, flowers and houses in her patterns, all in a simple but stunning folk style. Whet your appetite below with some of our favourites!
Plans are also underway to have a mini Christmas in July. Unfortunately our new workshop space is still not ready for us to move in to. Building works on site have been tediously slow so our Christmas in July will not include workshops at the moment but stay tuned for further information regarding what we will be offering hopefully by the Autumn.

As always, enjoy your sewing and have a wonderful week. Best wishes Sally & the girls

Gail Pan, lives on the outskirts of Melbourne, Australia, at the foot of the beautiful Dandenong Ranges. Growing up in a home where sewing was always an important part of life, it was only natural that she tried every craft there was. She has always had some kind of project in the works, trying everything from knitting to cross-stitch.
When her kids were little she made their clothes, and when they got too old for that, she moved on to patchwork.
Her design business was born out of her habit of always adapting whatever she is working on until it becomes a new design altogether. In 2003, at the encouragement of some friends who were opening their own patchwork business, she began to design and release her own patterns and has been designing ever since!
Gail has diversified with 6 self published books and 4 books with Martingale/That Patchwork Place and several fabric lines.
She teaches all over the world and gets great satisfaction and enjoyment from sharing her love of needle and thread, meeting some amazing women whom she now can call friends. We can't wait to see her here next month.
