Calm after the Storm after the Calm!
We don't know about you but Cornwall has been battered the past few days with high winds. Such a shock after some days of glorious sunshine when it looked like Spring was well and truly here. However hopefully things are calming. In the shop we are all a little calmer now that Stock Take is done and dusted. It certainly makes us realise just how wide a variety of items we actually stock. Buttons, threads, books, scissors, fabrics, rulers, blades, sewing machines, glue, felt, fleece, needles, pins.....the list goes on and on. We are hoping over the next few weeks to get on top of restocking kits and planning workshops for when we open our new workshop space. Unfortunately there have been more delays but we will be up and running as soon as possible.
This week we take a close look at one of our favourite Australian Designers, Anni Downs of Hatched and Patched. Last week we had a large delivery of patterns, books and wool packs from her and we were reminded just how much we love her designs. Anni also designs her own fabrics which she uses in her patterns and the wool used in her gorgeous applique is all hand dyed and cut by her husband Peter.
Don't forget that we still have an ongoing offer of a free designer pattern to give away to anyone who spends over £50 in the shop or online while stocks last! Just enter MYSTERY in the comments box if you order online or tell us at the till. There is a wide range of patterns from a variety of designers and all previously retailed for at least £9 or more, so who knows what you might win and create! This offer is limited to one free pattern per order while stocks last.
Somehow it is almost Easter already! We would like to wish you all a very Happy Easter Weekend next week and hope that you get to spend time with loved ones. The shop will be closed on Good Friday April 7th, open on Saturday 8th and closed on Easter Monday April 10th. Of course the online shop is always open and we will process orders when we are back in the shop.
As always, have a wonderful week that is full of love, laughter and sewing! Best wishes Sally & the girls

Anni Downs is the creator of all the patterns, books and fabrics under the Hatched and Patched label. She has been designing in the Patchwork arena for over 20 years now and says she is still totally addicted, and that there is always so much to learn, to be inspired by, to share.
She calls her style whimsical, having a little bit of quirky thrown in. With a lot of her designs she likes to tell a story, sometimes with sayings, sometimes just with imagery. Anni uses different mediums such as wool, cottons and linens to create a little texture in her work. Her work has a slightly organic handmade look combining stitchery, piecing and applique.
Anni loves the process of stitching and hand-work; and like many of us, views it as a form of meditation. She also designs fabric with Henry Glass Fabrics. She usually designs a Christmas and an Everyday range each year. We love her designs and we are sure you do too.

The other Hatched and Patched books are slimmer A4 and A5 booklets but are still packed with ideas. They each contain a pattern for a whole quilt plus smaller projects that use a single block from the larger project. They include delightful stitcheries to copy and as well as quilts there are bags, cushions, hangings and handy sewing accessories to make.
