Spring is definitely on it's way here in Cornwall. As I look out the window I can see camelias and primroses blooming and hear the birds singing as they gather for their nests. However, as lovely as this is, Spring means an onerous big stock take for us at the shop. Lots of counting of each individual item and every fat 1/4 and cm of fabric. To give us a helping hand and to spring clean our shop we have started to add many end of roll bargains to the website along with more scrap bags. See below for the beautiful quilt made by Gill using just Lynette Anderson scrap bag fabrics. Every little piece really is useful!
Also this week we have had a delivery of Quiltmania magazine. Once more filled with inspiring projects. Plus we have a gorgeous new quilt kit from Basic Grey using their Nutmeg fabric range. Tradewinds is a quilt full of fluttering autumn leaves. We have a very limited supply of these gorgeous kits which include the pattern.

This weeks words of wisdom are that Monday 20th March is officially when Spring begins in the UK as we welcome the Spring Equinox. The Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere occurs twice a year around 20 March (the spring equinox) and around 22 September (the autumn equinox). During the equinox, day and night will be around the same length which is evident in the word's origin derived from the Latin equi (meaning 'equal') and nox (meaning 'night').
The spring equinox marks the beginning of spring and from this day forward the day is longer than the night. Similarly, the autumn equinox marks the start of autumn as the night becomes longer than the day.
Below you will find some Spring inspired projects with more to follow next week. Don't forget that it is Mothering Sunday tomorrow, 19th March. We have gift vouchers for last minute gifts and plenty to choose from if you are the lucky recipient of a voucher. We send all our customers love and happiness whether you are a mother yourself or you are thinking of your own mum.

Have a wonderful week that is full of love, laughter and sewing! Best wishes Sally & the girls

We have added over 80 end of rolls to our sales pages. They include Tilda, Batik, French General and many more. The photo shows just a few of what we have on offer. We will continue to add more as the week progresses and these are mainly last chance buys with only one end of roll available and not available again.
All are over 40cm by width of fabric and many are over 1.5m and suitable for backing a quilt.
We have also added more fat 1/4s to our 5 for £10 lucky dip. A great way to build your stash and receive a lovely surprise. We try to coordinate the lucky dip fat 1/4s as much as we can so that you have a bargain way to start your project. They are all high quality 100% cotton. Choose from miscellaneous, children's or Christmas.

Scrap bags are an easy way of getting a variety of different fabrics and although we envisioned them as perfect for smaller projects, applique and paper piecing it is amazing what you can make with them. Gill brought us in her Little Dresden quilt that she made entirely from our Lynette Anderson scrap bags. You can see more photos of her amazing work in our customer gallery.
We are adding more scrap bags as I type so if you like the look of any that are currently out of stock, just add your name to the waitlist and we will let you know when they are in stock again. On our to do list are Batik, Tilda solids, wool felt and many more!
Another great way to have a bargain project stash is by using the Moda and Ruby Star Scrap bags. These tend to be width of fabric strips of a whole range and even we don't know what's in each one.

This week we take a quick look at Spring projects but we will showcase more next week as we look forward to Easter too. Think Spring colours of yellow and green, rabbits and chicks and flowers. Here are a few to get you going.
A bargain book stuffed full of ideas. The projects include bunnies, geese, hens, lambs and other springtime characters. Also included are delightfully quick and simple applique and patchwork Easter cards, hearts, egg cosies, bags, and tea cosies.
You can use any charm pack or even a mini charm to create a nine patch in place of the four patch. Sally has written additional instructions if you prefer to do this. Made with applique, hand embroidery and fabric piecing techniques.
Available as just the patterns with the wooden buttons or as a digitally printed kit which include the fabrics & buttons.
Made using the lovely fabric from Gail Pan, this bunting will brighten any home or garden as we welcome in warmer weather and longer days. Simple to make so get children involved too.
