Holiday reading and fun for the children -

Good day. It is lovely to be writing to you for the second time in a week.
We hope that you didn't mind us contacting you midweek as well as today but we needed to let you know as soon as we could about the gorgeous new Tilda range. We have been anticipating the arrival since we first saw samples last year. Merry Little Christmas is now all online and available to preorder for delivery from September 1st which is the official worldwide release date. More pics and links are below.

We are please to once more be stocking the Australian magazines, Homespun and Inspirations. Both the issues that have arrived are filled with gorgeous projects. Intricate embroidery, quilts, crochet and knitting. So many ideas to inspire and follow.

For many of you, this weekend means the beginning of the school holidays and you may have children or grandchildren at home or visiting. We thought we would take a little look at things that a child might like to sew while on holiday. It's a great opportunity for them to have time to learn or perfect a new craft. We especially love felt as a medium for children to use as it is so forgiving and easy to use for beginners.

Michelle will be holding children's workshops soon so keep an eye on the workshop section of the website and we will add them in asap. We do have a workshop/sewing day with Mary coming up next week. Full details below. Sally will also be there with a mobile shop from 10:30-3:30.

Last week we told you about Kernow Quilters exhibition in August and another local sewing group, Karenza Quilters, have an exhibition coming up in September. Full details are below.

Thank you for your ongoing custom. It is our pleasure to provide a more personal service for our customers and we look forward to helping you choose the right products and fabrics for your projects.
With our Very Best wishes
Sally, Mary and Michelle
Inspirations Magazine is our go to magazine for embroidery ideas. In this issue the projects include goldwork knot gardens by Tania Cohen, a beautiful project showcasing Aemilia Ars, a style of Italian needlelace, a delicate design surrounding a linen square by Di Kirchner.
You will also find projects utilising crewel embroidery, blackwork, stumpwork, silk ribbon and thread painting, as well as a cute little box with surface embroidery.
Homespun magazine has a plethora of ideas in each issue and this one contains the Best of the best – 25 years of inspiration!
13 Iconic projects from their archives including the Timeless masterpiece quilt, plus Applique, Embroidery, Patchwork, Toy making, crochet, Knitting & bag making… something for everyone!
As a business owned and run by women, we wanted to make a special point of mentioning the huge achievements of the English Women's Football team who are playing in the final of the Women's Euro Final tomorrow, Sunday 27th July. We wish them well and will be waving our flags.
We have samples of all these new Tilda fabrics and they are utterly divine. Soft reds, greens, creams and duck egg blues combine to give a faded vintage look that are a delight. There are lots of ditsy prints that are not too festive so can be used year round, as well as some beautiful Christmas themed feature fabrics with images of reindeer, nutcrackers, snowmen, geese and polar bears.
Tilda will be releasing beautiful new patterns with the range, you can see sneak peeks here and they are beautiful. We can make up kits for some of the items so let us know if anything appeals. We love the simple idea of using the feature fabric images to make decorations for the tree and home.
We have lots of delightful fabrics that are suitable for children's projects. Either making them yourself or encouraging children to get creative themselves. We have several end of rolls for playmats or quilt backing. We also have pirate flag and bunting panels which are great for a garden den. There is a Noah's Ark panel to make a soft book. Maybe older children can help you make one for a younger sibling.
There are plenty of children's bargain fat 1/4s and scrap bags, including woolfelt scrap bags. A lovely fabric for children to get creative with as it doesn't fray and is very forgiving.
These cute kits and books are a great place for children to start their sewing journey. Using felt and needle felting techniques are accessible for all ages with some supervision and instruction. What a joy it is to see children off of devices and being creative. Learning life long skills that will stay with them.
This coming Tuesday, 29th July, sees Mary hosting a sewing get together. She has designed a special project for the day. From her photo hint, could it "bee" about bees?.....You are welcome to bring your own work in progress if preferred. Please book with Mary, her contact details are on the event page. Just click on the photo for the booking details. Sally will have a mobile shop here open from 10:30 - 3:30.

Two local groups have exhibitions coming up in August and September. These are both always so beautiful and we recommend them. Our good friend Jo Colwill will be attending as the trader for these and both groups are raising money for Cornwall Hospice Care.
