Definitely more hare than tortoise!......
Oh my goodness! What a mega quick sell out of kits and patterns that was last week. We were hard pushed to keep up with the demand for the gorgeous Slow & Steady range from Hatched & Patched. Slow and Steady has proved to be more Fast and Furious as it has flown out this week. At the time of writing we still have some fat 1/4s and fabric left, a few sage panels, and a four Slow & Steady patterns but a lot has already sold out completely. We completely see why. It is so full of the joys of Spring.
|
Are you feeling the joy this week? There seem to be many more brighter days with blue skies and lots of flowers blooming. The air feels fresh and light after the heavy weeks of rain and grey skies. We are feeling a need to make bunting to brighten up spaces indoors and out and we had an idea for Scrap Bag Bunting. We have a quick way of making bunting by folding squares of fabric rather than cutting out triangles of fabric. It saves sewing on the bias. Many of the pieces in scrap bags are approximately 10" square and can be trimmed to a uniform size for a bright and cheery display. Full details below.

As the Easter holidays are approaching, many of you have children or grandchildren that will need to be kept busy. Why not encourage them to move away from screens and get creative instead. We have a variety of projects that are perfect to make with younger family members. From beginner stitchers to the more proficient. All achievable with a little assistance.

We thrive on the personal connection so please keep in touch and let us know if we can help you choose products or make up kits for a specific project. We work part time but will always answer a call or email whenever and as soon as we can.

Wool felt is a beautiful material to work with. It doesn't fray, or need hemming and holds its shape well. It is easy to sew through for even the littlest of fingers and is so much nicer to use than cheaper acrylic felt. We have a large range of our own wool felt as well as scrap bags and felt bundles. Below are some books that utilise our felts.

Corinne Lapierre kits are detailed yet simple. She offers ideas for decoration but you are free to adorn them as you wish. This means that even novice sewers are able to achieve a good finish. The kits all contain a pattern, felt, threads, stuffing and needle. All you need is a pair of scissors and some time. Of course once you have used the felt included you can make more using additional felt in the colours of your choice.

We have sold out completely of the cream panel but do have a few of the light sage ones in stock. Each panel comes with a free pattern to make a cot quilt by simply adding borders to the panel and quilting. The Leaping Hares in sage is used for the border for the same look.

Slow and Steady Quilt is definitely a slow stitch project but it is worth it. We can't waiti to see this made up in person. Just one of these kits left but there are a few spare patterns that come with the stitchery designs for you to trace onto your chosen fabric background. If you want to choose your own fabrics, the quilt uses 18 fat or long 1/4s plus 50cm binding fabric and 60cm white linen or other background fabric.

Bunting is such an easy and quick way to brighten up any space. I have made many a string of flags with my children. Using scraps and old clothes as well as letting them buy their own choices. Scrap bags are a good way or our fat 1/4 favourite packs for more of a cohesive look if the scrappy look isn't for you.

This panel is a really easy way to make fun bunting for pirate play for your swashbucklers. Just lay face down on top of a 60cm piece of fabric and stitch around the two long sides of each flag. Cut between the flags, turn out to the right sides, press and pop inside folded bunting tape and stitch along the tape.
