September Sewing

Hello to all our beautiful subscribers. We hope that this week has been kind to you and that you have been in full sewing flow. I seem to have found my sewing mojo again and made one of the Tilda Pumpkins that we showed you last week. A quick and fun make. I also had an opportunity to actually finish a few projects that have been hanging around. Doesn't it give such great satisfaction to see all those UFOs and WIP finally being completed? (For those unfamiliar with the terms, UFO = UnFinished Objects WIP = Work In Progress). I don't know many customers who only have one project on the go at any one time. We all seem to get distracted by the next beautiful thing to make - having been inspired by a workshop or someone else's work, a new pattern or fabric range and even a tempting newsletter!........

We do have temptation this week I'm afraid. Unless we go to live in a monastery I feel that there is just too much to inspire us in the fabric world. Two gorgeous ranges from Primitive Gatherings have arrived from Moda. Snowman Gatherings IV is a delightful collection of blues and creams with cheeky snowmen. Farmhouse Flannels III sees the reappearance of the extremely cute sheep design that we just couldn't get enough of last time. As the temperature drops, daily it seems, now is a great time to make a snuggly quilt from this super soft brushed cotton/flannel.

After a conversation via email with a customer this week, I thought it was a good opportunity to talk about the Wishlist facility on the website. It is a really useful way of saving items and you can share your list with others if you want to. Perfect for birthday or Christmas gift ideas for yourself or others. Read below to find out more.

This weekend is the Art and Craft show at Ludgvan Church. Coast and Country are not a trader there but we are sure it will be well worth a visit to see a variety of creations. There are just a couple of places on upcoming workshops too. Snap them up while you can. Details below.

As always we hope you have a fabulous week ahead filled with happiness and sewing.
We look forward to helping you with all things sewing related, and having a chat too!
Best wishes
Sally and the Girls
Two new gorgeous ranges from Primitive Gatherings. Both available as fat 1/4s, off the bolt in increments of 25cm/long 1/4s, plus precuts that include charm packs, layer cakes and jelly rolls.

Snowman Gatherings is in frosty blues and creams and is adorable for winter not just Christmas. We think it would be perfect to make the Postcard Cuties for Winter quilt by Bunny Hill. Or what about using the Winter or Snow Samplers by Kathy Schmitz as centres and surround it with log cabin style borders.
Thinking further outside of the box, we can visualise these patterns made in the blues to give an alternative look and feel. Joy Mini Quilt and I Believe in Angels both by Bunny Hill, or Merry Christmas Wall Hanging by Hatched and Patched.
Flannels are always popular. They have the appearance of soft wool but are 100% cotton. They make the most beautifully soft and snuggly quilts and scarves. Mary has a delightful scarf pattern and kit using the flannels, plus the infinity scarf is beautiful made in either cotton or flannel, and Sally has designed several quilts using flannels that are simply stunning in whatever collection is used.
We like going off piste and reinventing patterns and thought that the Jelly Roll Rug would be utterly luxurious made using flannel. Super soft under foot for when you step out of bed. Bliss! Equally the table runners from Gail Pan, or the Heart to Hand Patterns are ideal partners to the flannels.
Upcoming events are the art and craft show, today, Saturday 7th,10.30am – 4.30pm and Sunday 8th September 11am – 4pm at Ludgvan Church. There will be a variety of different crafts on display including quilts, goldwork, beadwork and more. Refreshments available. Entry is by donations Bospraze Castle Road, Cornwall TR20 8HG. Coast and Country Crafts and Quilts are not there as a trader but will be going along to visit.

We also have just a few spaces left on upcoming workshops. Two Free Motion machine embroidery classes with Caroline Michelle - Creating Free Motion Raw Edge Applique Pictures this coming Tuesday, September 10th and her Machine Embroidery Hoop Class on Saturday 21st September. In between these, on Tuesday 17th September, Mary is once more holding her Journal Cover workshop. We have seen some stunning examples made on all three of these classes.
I promised I would show you how to create a wishlist on the website. There are just a couple of simple steps to follow. It is a great way to create individual lists for yourself, or to share so family and friends know what you're hankering after, or for getting alerts when items go on sale, or for creating a list of gift ideas to buy for others.
1 - When you have found an item you would like to add to a wishlist, then simply click on the heart next to the Add to Basket button. See the screenshot above to see where it is. I have circled it in blue for ease to see.

2 - This opens a page where you can Create a List. See 2nd photo. You may be asked to log in to the website of you aren't already. Simply enter the details it asks for and choose who you want to share it with. It can be set so that only you can see it or it can be seen publicly or shared with a few people using the link that is generated at the next stage. Once you have entered the details then click on Create List.
3 - The final stage sees your list created and this is where you can edit it. If you have opted to share with a few people you will see the wishlist URL. You can copy and share this . I have blacked out my full link but you get the idea. You can remove or amend items here. Click on the Actions button to see the options, and Apply Action when you are finished. You can also add to cart here so you can make your purchase.

4 - Any time you see a product you like you can click on the heart and either create a new Wishlist or add it to an existing one. You can have several different wishlists at the same time so click away!

I hope this has helped. As always we are on hand to help you if you are struggling to get started, but it's such a fantastic way to save items you have seen and like, rather than trying to trawl through countless pages because you can't remember what it was you had seen.
