Coast & Country Crafts and Quilts Newsletter

Coast & Country Logo

Shhhh, We might mention the C word!

As I sit to write I am nursing a rather pink nose from sitting in the sun at lunch time yesterday to enjoy local seafood, while looking out across a gorgeous beach filled with people enjoying sun, sea and sand. Today, however, I look out of the window, and we have rain. We seem to be having all four seasons in one week at the moment. Which is a perfect situation for this weeks newsletter......

We have received summery bright fabrics and new pre-cuts from Kaffe Fassett, along with cheery kits from Nancy Nicholson. These were followed by two new festive fabric ranges from Makower - Christmas Wishes and Enchanted Christmas. Yep, we mentioned the C word!

We are just two weeks away from Gail Pan spending three days with us. So many delightful projects to choose from and invaluable advice from our Australian friend. She really did feel like one of the Coast and Country Family when she was here last year and we are sad that this will be her last teaching visit to the UK. If you have thought about joining us for one of the days, now is your chance.

We hope you have a fabulous week and get to have plenty of sewing opportunities.
We look forward to helping you with all things sewing related.
Best wishes
Sally and the Girls
The master of bold colour and pattern combination, Kaffe Fasset, has been bringing us bursts of colours and inspiration for 50 years through his fabric, knitting, needlepoint, patchwork, painting and mosaic. We love getting our deliveries of his fabrics and books. They always bring sunshine to our days and surprise us with the way seemingly clashing colours and bold designs just work together so well.
In our latest order are new fabrics and precut fat 1/4 bundles, jelly rolls( design rolls) and 5" and 10" charm squares. We love to see what our customers make with his beautiful fabrics. They can often look like stained glass especially if sashed with a darker contrast shot cotton or solid fabric.
We think some of these patterns by other designers would also look stunning made up using Kaffe Fasset fabrics. The Jelly roll rug would be super in one of Kaffe's 2 1/2" design rolls and they could also be used for the Alexandra and Sophie bags. The EPP patterns for Indulgence, Tenderness and Stargazer would also be amazing in Kaffe.
Love From Beth loves using bright fabrics in her designs for quilts, bags so are already a perfect match for Kaffe bright and bold.
Nancy Nicholson kits are back in stock and already flying out. Some of the kits will be gradually phased out over the coming year to become just fabric only, so if you prefer to buy everything as a whole kit, now is the right time to buy.
We know it's only July but we had to share these two gorgeous Christmas ranges with you. Enchanted Christmas is rich reds and greens with delightful woodland scenes and just a tiny hint of metallic gold. There is a panel of 8 designs that would make easy and beautiful festive cushions, placemats or table runner or even several gift bags.
Christmas Wishes is a nostalgic collection with retro style designs plus a coordinating panel and an Advent calendar panel too. The versatile panel squares are approximately 4" square and can be used as a whole panel or cut into individual images to use for gift bags, cushions, placemats, coasters or for card making.
Australian designer, Gail Pan, comes to visit us on Friday 19th, Saturday 20th and Monday 22nd July. We still have space left on the Friday session and Gail has offered the chance of opting for any of her patterns on that day, so you can choose one project from any of the days she is here. Just in case your favourite is listed for a day that is now full. It really is worth coming along as she is such a great tutor and this is her last teaching trip to the UK. It is now or never!

We also have lovely workshops booked with our colleague, the lovely and talented Mary Vague, plus Cat Rowe, Caroline Michelle, Becky De'Ath and Louis Nichols. Please try to book in advance to avoid disappointment & so that we can ensure the classes have enough to run.
