Girl Power - celebrating success
Hello again. We trust that this newsletter finds you well and full of inspiration. If you need some extra input then we hope that this newsletter spurs you on to greater creativity. Kits, patterns, stitcheries and gifts to treat yourself or others.
This week is filled with events. For us in Cornwall we have St Piran's Day on Monday 5th March. A day celebrating our patron Saint and is often celebrated with parades and pasty eating! Friday 8th is International Women's Day, a day to celebrate the achievements of all women and next Sunday, 10th March, is Mothers Day in the UK. Spend time with or think about our own mothers, and maybe buy a gift. So this newsletter we will be taking a look at all of these by celebrating our female entrepreneurs including our Cornish suppliers.
We are so blessed to be a shop filled with beautiful things and beautiful women. Our first celebration is for our Sally. Our Cornish female entrepreneur who started Coast and Country Crafts from the boot of her car, visiting local sewing groups and fayres. The business has grown each year and now ships all over the world including USA, Canada, Mexico, Australia, France and Norway amongst many others. We work with many women Internationally too - including Lynette Anderson, Anni Downs, Natalie Bird and Gail Pan in Australia, Jackie Nichols in New Zealand, Tone Finnanger of Tilda from Norway and, closer to home, Alice Caroline in Gloucestershire, Corinne Lapierre in Leeds, Hannah Burbury in Hampshire, Amy Butcher of Beaks and Bobbins in York, Janet Clare in Surrey, Devon based Ashmead Designs, and Cornish based Poppy Treffry and Louise Nichols.
In our shop we thrive on inspiring and supporting many women to learn new skills. Advising in person or on the phone, holding workshops and helping them choose the right products or fabrics. It makes us smile so much when we see progress made and the joy and pride of everyone who shares what they have made. It really is heart warming to know that we are not just about fabrics and threads, but about you, our customers. We celebrate each other, our designers and all of you, our loyal customers who come to see us or order from us or call for a chat. Our business would be nowhere without all the women who support us daily. We thank you for your part in our story.
We, as ever, are always on hand to help with all your sewing needs and look forward to helping you.
Best wishes Sally & the girls (Thanks also to our inspirational Michelle, who is the author of our newsletters)

Cornish Designers

Local Cornish designer, Poppy Treffry, uses prints of her free motion embroidered designs in various gift products including these beautiful new offerings. Above are two kits for you to make yourself or gift, the new pencil case sewing roll kit and the Cornish Cottages mini pot. Below are the ready made small useful purse, sewing machine notebook and mini dry mat - a useful product which is waterproof on one side so you can sit on the beach or grass without getting a soggy botty!

Local artist Louise makes these gorgeous kits by lino-printing on to linen or cotton. These prints can be embellished with felt, threads and beads to really personalise them. Some are available as panels only, so completely in your hands as to how they develop, but most come as kits with all you need to complete them.

Very close to home are the patterns and kits designed by our own staff members. Some designs have previously been workshops but are now available to anyone no matter how near or far. We are adding to these and love coming up with new ideas.

These pretty kits reflect Hannah's love of nature and are named after her family members and ancestors. The designs are screen printed onto felt or linen ready for you to stitch and contain all you need to recreate the originals. Beautiful kits and gifts.
