Time for more bargains -
Good morning, afternoon, evening! Whenever you are catching up with us, we hope that all is well with you.
As you can imagine this has been a strange time for us all as we close our doors as a physical shop on Saturday 14th June. We will miss the daily in person contact but everyone has been so understanding of the need for a fresh start. We are so delighted to still being able to continue to run the online side of the business ourselves, with the view to offering workshops and pop up shops locally once we are sorted with our new arrangements. We look forward to staying in contact with all our loyal local, online and over the phone customers. You have kept us excited to come to work each day and we thank all of you for your support through the years and these changes.
As a final goodbye and thank you in the shop we are offering any last in person visitors 20% off all none Sale purchases. There are just two days, today Friday 13th and tomorrow Saturday 14th, to take advantage of this in store. For all our online and phone customers there are offers for you too. 20% off all Mettler thread packs and fat 1/4s until Sunday midnight, and a special heartfelt 20% offer on Bonheur Heart pattern from House on the Hill. Just click on the ThankYou20 coupon at the till.

It is amazing what you unearth whilst reorganising and stock taking a shop that's been in operation since 2009. This week has seen many things come to light for the first time in a long time! Patterns that have been tucked between others so we thought they were out of stock, kits that have slipped underneath others, fabrics that we believed to be online but were not, and as space is more limited at our new premises, we have made more end of rolls for you to snap up bargains. Everything we have is being added online so keep checking in for the latest additions!
We are now receiving more stock of essentials and will be adding brand new products as soon as possible. How many times have we all changed a cutting blade and wonder why we have waited so long to do it! That wonderful moment of feeling the blade glide through the fabric, cutting like a hot knife through butter, rather than having to press down with all our might and get snags in our precious fabric at the same time. Every single time I change a blade, I know I have left it far too long. Maybe that should be our new resolution, to change blades much more frequently. The same can be said for needles and pins. It is so much easier to finish a project if we have the right sharp tools for the job.
There are lots of beautiful new products, fabrics, patterns and kits, that have tempted us while we sort out the website so watch this space to see what we choose for you to keep you sewing and inspired.
Please remember that we are only a call or an email away to offer advice regarding your sewing needs. We'll be working on a more part-time basis, but if you leave us a message we will get back to you as soon as possible. We are all experienced sewing creatives and pride ourselves on our personal touch.
From the bottom of our hearts, a huge thank you to everyone who has supported, and continues to support us. We truly love helping you and look forward to continuing to advice and inspire you and keep you supplied with all your sewing needs.

Some of these new items are one offs only. They have made their way back into the light and here as a last chance buy. They include the lovely Etoile de Noel pattern and fabric pack, Bunny Hill and The Birdhouse patterns, as well as newly added fabrics available by the long 1/4 and increments of that. For example, to order 1m add 4 long 1/4s to the basket.
We have also added these lovely snowflake buttons online. Available in packs of 5.

We have replenished our stocks of Quilting Essentials including needles, pins, pens, scissors, rotary cutters and blades. It is always good to have the right tool for the job.
Hand and Machine Needles are available for each specific job. They come in different sizes with various eyes and tips that make them the perfect match for every project.
With machine needles, the higher the number the heavier the needle. So, for example, a 60 weight needle is ideal for very lightweight fabric and a 90 weight is for heavier fabrics like denim or tweed. We recommend a 70 or 80 for most patchworking projects. The needles also come as quilting needles or universal and microtex. Quilting needles are made specifically for going through multipole layers, whereas a microtex has a very thin point for creating beautiful topstitching and perfectly straight stitches for quilt piecing when precision is paramount.
To confuse us, hand needles are the opposite. The higher the number the finer the needle. So a size 12 needle is much finer than a size 5. We have needles for embroidery, quilting and general sewing and each has their place but many people find a size and type that suits them best and stick to it. Quilting needles are specifically designed for quilters, are shorter in length to allow faster stitching and are very sharp and fine to pierce tight cotton weaves. Whereas, Crewel or embroidery needles have a longer eye and are ideal for threading stranded cotton. Otherwise, they are the same length and have the same point as standard needles.

There are several new additions in our end of roll sale category and more will be added over the next 2 weeks as we streamline stock to make it easier to move premises. These are all at a reduced price and are big enough for backing smaller quilts or wall hangings.
