Encouraging the young -
Hello once more and how does this week find you? We are continuing to be busy both in the shop and with phone and website orders. The shelves are in desperate need of restocking but we are starting to find time to get things more ship shape. We really appreciate everyone's patience as we work our way through all that needs doing.
The 15% off sale continues this week, both in store and online. There are some amazing discounts in our sale section too and we have more of our shop samples being added as we clear the decks.
We are processing orders and helping customers in person as quickly as we are able to, with many of us putting in longer days to ensure everyone gets what they want. There will inevitably be some delays, and stock discrepancies may become apparent as things are being bought and sold more quickly both in the shop and online, so we thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
This week we take a look at our lovely Dress It Up Buttons which are on special offer for a limited time. These beauties come in various shapes, sizes and colours, from the tiniest micro buttons to glittery shells and are a simple way to embellish projects. Fully washable and easy to sew on, although you will need a finer needle for the tinier micro minis which are only 1/8" across, and the tiny buttons which are just 1/4" diameter.
New in this week has been our last issue of Homespun Magazine. As always, it is packed with ideas and inspiration. There is a special feature on designer Tula Pink plus project ideas for crochet, cross stitch, folk embroidery and quilting. We have also received our last Tilda Lovers Club. This issue is a covered coat hanger with pockets to hold your sewing stash or jewellery. Just three of these are available as I type.
As it is now the Easter Holidays we look at some of our fabrics and projects that might be suitable for children to help with. It's always good to get youngsters started from a young age. Encourage their creativity and get them away from gadgets and screens.
We look forward to continuing to help you with everything sewing related both online and in person for as long as we can. Thank you for all your support. You have helped us thrive and kept us all busy and enjoying our job. We count you all as our friends.

With our Very Best wishes Sally & the girls

Not the most exciting of photos but these little beauties are a gorgeously simple way to make coordinating buttons for your handmade items. Each button comes in two parts so you can layer up your chosen fabric and simply snap both pieces into place. Available in sizes from 11mm - 38mm, singly and in bulk packs for some sizes.

We like to encourage children to get involved in the creative process and we have patterns, kits and fabrics that will fire their imagination. Even the youngest can participate by choosing their own fabrics or helping to do a few stitches. I taught my children to sew from a very young age and even got them making wet felt and needle felted projects, and using a sewing machine. They learned to respect the process and the tools and all lead creative lives now.

Above are three patterns to make wings for creative play. Younger children could help choose their fabrics and the more confident could do at least some of the sewing. We have Butterfly Wings, Bumblebee Wings, and the Bat and Dragon Wings are both on one adaptable pattern. All are by Wife Made.

Felt is a fantastic medium for children as it doesn't fray and is easy to manipulate, cut and sew. The Corinne Lapierre kits contain all that is needed to finish the items including needles, threads and toy filler. The stitches can be as intricate or simple as skills allow. The Simple Santa pattern is available as a pattern and as a kit, and the Needle Felt Teddy is suitable for all ages with supervision as the needles are sharp. Fun for all ages.

Above we have three panels that can be made for or by children. The Dog Daze and Here Kitty Kitty panels each make two stuffed dolls. The Noah's Ark Animal Book panel makes a soft book for little hands.
Below are panels to make Pirate Bunting and larger Pirate Flags, perfect for the swashbucklers in your family to turn any bedroom or den space into an exciting adventure on the high seas. The ABC panel can be used to make multiple projects as the panel can be cut into different parts. They could be used for quilts, playmats, bags, cushions. Made from canvas rather than cotton it makes for a more robust item.

Also, from Gail Pan, is her jolly Backyard Happenings fabric. We have packs cut to make simple bunting. Maybe an Easter project with children? Or use them for a simple quilt. Each pack contains 5 images plus 13 fabric squares and bunting tape.
