Warm welcomes-

Hello and welcome once more to our weekly newsletter. We love hearing your feedback about the newsletter each week. We know that it is a way for us all to stay connected with those unable to visit the shop in person and to let everyone know what is going on and new arrivals to make us smile. Our community is the ladies who visit us in person, and those further afield who love what we do. What a beautiful co-creation we have. It's like an exclusive club. What would be our name? ......Coast and Country Creatives, The Fabric Fumblers, Embroiderers Anonymous or The Pink Pony Club! Hehehe.

This week we have had many ladies popping in with, or sending photos of, their finished Liberty Blocks. I will share all of them in a gallery next week once we have them ready to send on Saturday. They really are inspiring, with different techniques and designs. I feel blessed to have been a coordinator for this project, helping us all to be part of an historical moment in time. To see everyone getting creative and inspired by each other and appreciating all the work made is beautiful.

Arriving with us over the last few days have been delightful new fabrics from Makower. A nautical flavour with High Tide, Easter fun with Hello Spring , and the pretty Afternoon Tea. We also have two beautiful inspiring magazines from Australia, Homespun and Inspirations. There is a divine new book from Inspirations as well, Enchanted Embroidery by Jenny Adin-Christie. Such incredible work.

We hope that you have an inspired and creative week with time to enjoy whatever you love to do, or maybe you are ready to try something new. We have plenty of workshops upcoming that are suitable for beginners and improvers alike. If you couldn't make Caroline Michelle's Introduction to Thread Sketching this weekend, then we have rescheduled it for the 21st March. I'm grabbing myself a place on this beautiful workshop. Before that I will be teaching a needle felting class. Lots of fun with wool.

We would love to see any of you who can pop in to see us, but also happy to help on the end of the phone or by email. Happy sewing and stitching.

Best wishes
Sally, Michelle & the girls
What a gorgeous collection High Tide is. Soft muted blues, sand and a pop of red all with nautical and seaside themes. Fish, yachts, lighthouses, beaches, reefs, shells. Perfect for a coastal themed room, boat, sailor or land lubber who loves the sea. Customers often ask for fabrics more suited to a more masculine quilt and this ticks lots of boxes.
The Harbour scene in this range is so lovely, and both that, and the reef design, would make fantastic lampshades. We have kits in stock to make a 40cm shade. Ideal to create the perfect shade for your home.
Just take a look at this sublime offering from Inspirations. The exquisite stitched artwork of Jenny Adin-Christie combined with phenomenal photography has created a visual feast for the eyes and soul. The projects may be incredible but they are achievable and full detailed instructions are given.
We only received a small delivery of this pretty fabric so we have limited availability. We love the summery look and dream of summer tea parties in the garden when we look at this & we've added two Liberty Wiltshire Shadows that compliment the colours perfectly. Pretty for any project including bunting or placemats using our insulfleece. A wadding that has heat reflective properties.
This issue of Australian Homespun magazine celebrates 25 Years of the Magazine. It is, as usual, full of embroidery, crochet, knitting, patchwork and applique projects to make, including a special anniversary collaborative quilt designed by Natalie Bird, Helen Stubbings, Claire Turpin, Rachelle Denneny, Sharon Burgess and Julie Fenn.
We are always blown away with the projects in Inspirations Magazines. Such incredible embroidery in each piece, but all achievable with the detailed instructions included.
This issue has projects by Trish Burr, Jo Butcher, Louise Spriggs, Carolyn Stanton, Kim Beamish, Laurence Lieblich and Margaret Light.
Chickens, chicks, Easter eggs and a riot of colour, Hello Spring really does what it says on the tin - Hello to Spring. Pretty Easter bunting or Egg Hunt baskets would look delightful made with these fabrics.
Michelle has two felt making workshops coming up. The first on March 11th is to make needle felted brooches and/or animals or other characters. The second is on April 8th and this is a wet felt workshop to make either bowls or a bag. Both can be embellished once dry but are made entirely as one piece with no sewing involved unless you add stitches and bead afterwards. Working with wool tops to create 3D items is a magical process.
Caroline Michelle always runs such amazing classes where everyone comes out feeling like they have gained a new passion. Her upcoming classes include Thread Sketching with Free Motion Embroidery on 21st March. Learn to use your machine to create sketched thread 'paintings'. Caroline will demonstrate the techniques fully and get you confident enough to create beautiful art work like in the picture above. This class is suitable for beginners as she will teach you how to start from scratch. Lots of creative fun.
Her other classes are Beginners Free motion Applique on March 22nd, and Textile Hearts on April 30th.
A lot of customers ask why we don't sell bias binding. The quick answer is that most people making quilts use straight cut binding for their quilts. When curves are being bound then bias binding is very useful and it is relatively easy to make yourself to make sure you coordinate fully with your project rather than be limited to a certain palette of colours.

To make this process easier then we recommend using the Clover Bias makers. Once you have cut your fabric strips on the bias or diagonal of your fabric and joined them together into a long piece if needed, then simply thread through the maker and press to create your tape. Available in a wide range of sizes suitable for binding quilts, clothes or making stems for applique work etc.
