Pinch, punch, first of the month!

Welcome to February! Where has January gone?

With the end of the storms this week we thought we had escaped unscathed in our woody corner of Cornwall. However, on Wednesday, we were in the midst of fulfilling orders and making kits when all power went off on site. A live power cable had fallen into the road behind the shop. Luckily no one was injured and no damage was caused. By torchlight we managed to sort the shop and thankfully all was well again by the following morning. We hope the rest of you were similarly unscathed!

With the arrival of some welcome sunny days we have had the arrival of the Spring like Tilda Tipsy fabrics. Gorgeous ditsy prints in warm spring colours of pink, blue and yellow. As a special introductory offer we have reduced the cost of these from £16 per metre to £15 per metre. A little thank you from us for your continued support.

To create more room on our shelves and declutter our stock room we have some special Tilda scrap bags which are made up of the last of several ranges so they are the final chance to get them. More details below.

We still have some spaces on upcoming workshops plus some new offerings. Caroline Michelle has more Free Motion embroidery classes plus her new Sketching with Thread. It really looks lots of fun and a new skill to learn. Sue Bovington is joining us with a brand new workshop to make a Chinese Thread Book. They look intriguing.

Sending warmth and happiness from all of us here. We look forward to helping you with everything sewing related both online and in person. Why not pop in for a browse and a fumble then go to the Olive Grove for cake or lunch, or both!
Best wishes
Sally & the girls

We have three different Tilda Scrap bags to select. Tilda Solids, in a wide variety of shades from pastels, to neutrals and brights. Tilda Lucky Dip scrap bags are made up of a mix of older and current main ranges. We also now have the Tilda blender scrap bags that contain a mix of blender ranges and basics including Aella, Medium Dots and Sophie and Meadow Basics. These are discontinued ranges so grab them while you can. Once they are gone they are gone.
There are still a handful of fat 1/4s and last metreage of these blender and basics ranges. Pictured are Cotton Beach Shells, Medium Dots, Aella, Meadow Basics, Hometown, Daisyfields. There are a few other colourways available but the last of the stock.
We have plenty of other Tilda ranges in stock too including the Creative memories ranges in Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter above. Below we have Sanctuary. Rich russets, blues and greens.
Join Sue to make one of these stunning Chinese Thread Books. All materials included in the cost of the workshop & the use of tools.
Made by minority ethnic groups in China’s Guizhou Province, this ‘Zhen Xian Bao’ book is an ingenious domestic filing system. Made by both men and women, the folded pockets were filled with oddments of thread, buttons, tickets, seeds, lists and mementos.
During this one day workshop, you will make a 15 compartment/pocket version of this intriguing book using 160gsm cotton papers.
Due to a couple of ladies moving away, there are now some spaces on Fi's monthly Sit and Sew afternoon. Meeting on the first Wednesday afternoon of each month, this is a chance to sit, hand sew and chat. There is always inspiration and homemade cake included! Try it this week
Caroline Michelle has three upcoming workshops including beginners Free Motion Embroidery class plus two brand new ones. Thread Sketching and Textile Heart Making
Our very own Michelle is teaching a needle felting workshop on March 11th. You can have a go at this fascinating craft and see the transformation of soft Merino wool into brooches and/or characters. A starter kit is included in the cost of the workshop.
This weeks quilting essentials are Mats. We have a variety of sizes of Olfa cutting mats, Trimmits Multi Mats perfect to take to classes and groups. Plus wool pressing mats. A game changer as they are lightweight, portable and very efficient at heat transfer through the fabric making pressing a breeze.
