Bags Galore
Yet another storm has hit many of us. We hope that you are safe and sound. It was scary to see the damage suffered by some but we are thankful to be tucked up and cosy here. Sending our very best to anyone affected by these extreme conditions.

This week we take a look at bags of all shapes and sizes. Not everyone wants, or needs, to make large projects and quilts, so bag making gives us a practical use of our love of sewing and produce a quicker item. Perfect to keep for ourselves or to give as a present. We have a vast array of patterns for bag making from a plethora of designers in varying styles. The quaint and quirky to the bold and modern, the intricate to the simple, there is something for every occasion and every taste.

We have received the latest issue of Tilda Lovers Club. A pretty cushion using a Tilda Sanctuary Charm Pack. There are still some spaces on our upcoming workshops. I know if I wasn't working, I'd be booking myself onto more than one of them. I am fascinated to see the techniques used by both Caroline Michelle and Claire Houghton in their workshops. More details below.
Whatever this week has in store for you, we hope you have time for yourself to do what you love and to simply sew.
We look forward to helping you with all your sewing needs, either in the shop, online or on the phone. Best wishes Sally & the girls

The beautiful Camden Bag by Aunties Two has been a very popular pattern since we first stocked it. It is a stunning way to utilise a favourite jelly roll. There is no shaping required. Simply stitch together the jelly roll strips that have been layered with wadding. A jelly roll is enough to make two small or medium bags.

Bali Bowls is another gorgeous pattern from Aunties Two using a similar technique with either rope or wadding inside the fabric strips.
The base is made with Fuse 'n' Shape and we have made a convenient Camden Bag Essentials Pack that includes that plus the tubing and vilene needed for the handles.

Jelly rolls are really useful for bag making. Not just for the Camden Bag and Bali Bowls but also the June Tailor quilt as you go bags, Alexandra and Sophie bags in particular.

Two incredible workshops are coming up soon.
With Caroline Michelle, learn the art of thread sketching with freemotion embroidery in this class aimed at beginners. Enjoy the freedom of drawing with your machine to create your own artwork. During this class you will be shown how to experiment with thread through a variety of simple practice exercises, including how to transfer images into textured stitch as well as using different colours to produce a beautifully textured artwork through various stages from an initial photograph to finished piece.
Claire Houghton brings her Coastal Flowers workshop to Coast and Country. With Claire`s guidance, you will create your own glistening seascape textile art. You will use a range of manipulation techniques, such as heat treating and scouring fabrics to bring added texture to your work. You will layer fabrics onto a base and secure with free motion embroidery to add further detail to the piece. Suitable for those with some experience of free motion machine embroidery and wish to experiment more to produce a textile art seascape.
