QUICK EDIT - Sending this newsletter early to give advanced notice
****Due to the amber and red weather warnings with predicted constant 70+ mph winds and heavy rain, we have decided to shut the physical shop on Saturday 7th December. This is to ensure the safety of staff and customers as we are surrounded by very tall trees. We are sorry for any inconvenience but, all being well with power, we will be available on the phone, via email and the website, to help you. Stay safe ****

Sharing the love..
Good evening. Thank you for all the birthday love over this past week. We had lots of fun and saw lots of customers. We raised lots for Children's Hospice Southwest (still counting but will let you know).
|
Tomorrow is Small Business Saturday, so let us take a moment to think of our shopping habits. So many small businesses are struggling with increased costs and overheads, whilst also trying to compete with big corporations and websites that make it very difficult for independent sellers to thrive and stay open.
|
As a small business ourselves, we are only too pleased to celebrate and support other small businesses. It really makes us do a happy dance when we have good sales in the shop and online. It means our shop is able to keep going so we can offer what we do, not only fabrics, threads and patterns, but advice, support and friendship, the very personal service we are so proud of.
|
So let us all do what we can to support small and local. We showcase some of our suppliers and designers below who appreciate every single sale made.
|
We also have some ideas for Secret Santa gifts as a lot of ladies have been shopping for them this week. With not that long until Christmas we have a look at festive patterns and have 10% off Christmas fabrics. There is still time to start and finish a project in time for the holidays. A delivery arrived from Australia containing the newest Tilda Lovers Club issue and the extra wide backing fabrics for both Owl and Hare and Sunshine and Lollipops quilts. They have taken quite some time to arrive, we ordered Owl and Hare in April!
|
Don't forget that we have a presence on Social Media, using both Facebook and Instagram. We run giveaways on these platforms so be sure to follow us on either or both to be in with a chance of winning. You can click on the links for both on the bottom of any of our website pages.
|
As always, we appreciate your support and look forward to helping you with all your sewing needs, either in the shop, online or on the phone.
|
Stay safe, charge up those rechargeable lamps you might have so you can keep sewing! Best wishes Sally & the girls

As it is so close to Christmas we have 10% off across our Christmas fabrics from now until Christmas Eve midnight, so you can buy fabrics and make last minute festive projects. There is plenty of inspiration for both quick makes and larger projects, from baubles and decorations to wall hangings and quilts.

Here are a few ideas for Stocking Fillers and Secret Santas. We have lovely gifts from Poppy Treffry, a local designer, including mugs, bags and cards. The everlasting postcards and pattern weights are also manufactured in Cornwall.
|
We have the pretty eco pouches from Kaffe Fassett, ready to fill with goodies. Maybe one of the lucky dip Aurifil thread packs? These are incredible value at £11.95 for 3 spools. Some of the threads usually retail for over £7 a spool. The Infinity Scarf pattern from our Mary is a quick gift to make from just 3 fat 1/4s. It is beautiful made in cottons or flannels.

It was worth the wait to get these lovely extra wide backing fabrics. The Owl and Hare one has been disappearing fast and we are sure that the Devonstone Tilda Jubilee spot will also go. It is on my wishlist!

Hannah Burbury is a young designer who creates beautiful embroidery kits. The designs are preprinted on wool felt for the hearts, and linen for the hoops. There are full colour photographs of each step and detailed instructions. All you need is scissors and time, plus a little toy filler for the hearts.

Louise Nichols is a favourite visitor to the shop. She designs gorgeous lino print panels and kits to embellish with felt, stitching, beads, ribbons and fabrics. She also runs workshops for us and our ladies are always delighted with their achievements on the day.

Gail Pan is not a local supplier but she is a small business and a great friend to us at the shop. Her patterns are full of embroidery and/or applique and she has a plethora of designs to choose from.

Caroline Michelle has been a huge asset to our workshop schedule this year. Her teaching is fun and all participants are delighted with the items they make on the day. We have a few places left for her upcoming workshop on Tuesday and she will be back next year to teach more classes.

Becky spent the day with us not long ago and we love her wool applique patterns. She is another up and coming small business as she still works alongside running her sewing workshops and pattern designing.
